Document Description
The proposed project consists of the development of a major research university in Merced County that will support up to 25,000 full-time equivalent students and an associated community. In 2002, the University of California prepared and certified an Environmental Impact Report (EIR) that evaluated the environmental impacts from the approval and implementation of a Long Range Development Plan (LRDP) for the development of a major research university in Merced County. Since then, the plan has changed and the amended plan must be reviewed for compliance with the California Environmental Quality Act (CEQA) before the University can adopt the amended plan. In 2004, the County of Merced certified an EIR that evaluated the environmental impacts from the development of a University Community adjacent to and south of the campus. Since then, the plan for the University Community has also changed and the amended plan must be reviewed for compliance with CEQA.
