Present Land Use
Existing land uses surrounding the Franklin Boulevard/Elk Grove Boulevard Intersection include a Raley's shopping center in the southeastern corner of the intersection, single-family residential homes in the northwest corner, a golf course in the northeastern corner, and the Stone Lakes National Wildlife Refuge (SLNWR) in the southwest corner. South of the Raley's shopping center on the eastide of Franklin Boulevard is the engineered Laguna South Channel North Drainage. South of the channel is a partially landscaped corridor approximately 120 feet wide along the entire eastern side of Franklin Boulevard between the Laguna South Channel and Poppy Ridge Road. Single-family residential housing exists east of this corridor along Franklin Boulevard. To the west of the intersection is a Union Pacific Railroad (UPRR) right-of-way overhead structure.
Document Description
The project will widen a portion of Elk Grove Boulevard from 5 lanes to 6 lanes and a portion of Franklin Boulevard from 4 lanes to 6 lanes. This widening would allow for 2 new free right turn lanes on eastbound to southbound Elk Grove Boulevard and 2 bus turnouts on southbound Franklin Boulevard. The project also includes widening of the west side of Franklin Boulevard from just south of the Laguna South Channel, North Drainage culvert approximately 150' to allow for the roadway to taper from 6 through lanes down to 4 lanes.
