Document Description
The original project consisted of restoration of the damaged components (2005) of the Cucamonga Creek Diversion Facility. This diversion structure is needed in order to supply water, at sufficient head, to the Arthur H. Bridge Water Treatment Plant. For the Proposed Cucamonga Canyon Rehabilitation Project, the Cucamonga Canyon intake facility to the Arthur Bridge Water Treatment Plant (ABWTP) is composed of two basins: the first being a sedimentation basin and the second the intake structures basin. During the heavy storm events of 2010, excessive runoff from the canyon caused significant damage to the intake basins. The basins became filled to overflowing with rock and debris and the intake gates were buried, as were the access manhole and the concrete weir box. This has forced the shutdown of the ABWTP until basins have been cleared of debris and other damage has been addressed. In an effort to minimize the impact of future storm runoff, the District is proposing a redesign of the intake basin facility. The work limits will roughly be within the existing footprint of the current facilities. Although a redesign of the intake structure is the preferred option, the District may opt to perform a direct in-kind replacement of what was there prior to storm damage.
