Document Description
The American River Contract 1 Project includes the installation of approximately 5,500 linear feet of erosion protection along the left bank of the American River in Sacramento, California. The purpose of the American River Contract 1 Project is to reduce flood risk to the City of Sacramento by constructing levee improvements that reduce the risk of levee failure due to levee erosion. The American River Contract 1 Project includes the installation of a riparian planting bench and in-stream woody material to provide on-site habitat to fish and wildlife species. The American River Contract 1 Project also includes construction of three off-site habitat mitigation sites to compensate for impacts to biological resources that are anticipated to result from bank protection implementation along the American River as part of the overall ARCF 2016 Project. The three off-site habitat mitigation sites are located within the American River Parkway near Glenn Hall Park and Rio Americano High School.
