SDG&E is proposing to construct a new 120 MVA distribution substation in the vicinity of State Route 94 (SR-94) and 30th Street in the community of Grant Hill within the Southeast San Diego Community Plan area of the City of San Diego, California. The proposed substation would be situated on a 2.6 acre parcel and configured as a 120 megavolt ampere (MVA), 138/12 Kilovolt (kV), low profile design consisting of four low profile, low sound 30 MVA transformers, four sections of switchgear to accommodate sixteen 12 kV circuits, and four 12 kV metal enclosed capacitors. The design of the distribution equipment is a low profile design with a maximum equipment height of approximately 14 feet. The transmission component of the substation would include four underground 138 kV transmission lines, four 138 kV switch stand structures, a low profile 138 kV bus, and nine 138 kV circuit breakers. The transmission equipment would be a low profile design with a maximum equipment height of approximately 14 feet. A 12-foot high screening wall would enclose the substation area (approximately 280 feet by 285 feet) and a 25-foot setback for landscaping would be provided along 30th Street.
