Document Description
Two elements of the California Memorial Stadium (CMS) Seismic Corrections and West Program Improvements (the Project), which was approved in January 2010, were rescinded in May 2011 in response to a Peremptory Writ of Mandate (March 25, 2011) granting in part a legal challenge to the CEQA documentation prepared for the Project. Thereafter, additional prior CEQA documentation was prepared to analyze the environmental effects of the rescinded Project elements and two additional Project elements as follows:
1) Use of simulated crowd noise for temporarily relocated football practices at Witter Field,
2) The construction, use and occupancy of the Athletic Service Center,
3) The scheduling of one regular season football game for a Friday nights, once a season, twice in a four year cycle, with the possibility of a Friday night championship game under unique circumstances, and
4) The permanent improvement and related intensified use of Witter Field following completion of the Project.
