Document Description
The project involves a Wildland Fire Management Plan including measures designed to reduce wildland fire hazard. Requirements for vegetation clearance and the delineation of defensible space surrounding structures are provided within high wildland fire risk areas. Vegetation management areas on public and private lands are identified and methods of vegetation management are provided. Vegetation management techniques include mowing of vegetation, removal of between 1/3 and 1/2 of flammable vegetation in a mosaic pattern, removal of tree limbs that provide a route for fire to follow to the tree canopy, removal of exotic invasive species, thinning of eucalyptus groves to achieve a density of 10 to 16 trees per acre, and prescribed burns. Evacuation procedures in the event of wildland fires are proposed.
