This is a city-wide update of the Housing Element to comply with the provisions of the California Government Code.
Document Description
The Housing Element Update is part of the San Leandro General Plan Update effort and represents the last element of the San Leandro General Plan to be included as part of the comprehensive update effort. The Housing Element is being updated in order to comply with State Planning and Fair Housing Laws. The primary purpose of the Housing Element is to ensure that a decent, safe, affordable supply of housing is provided for current and future San Leandro residents. The Element contains strategies to conserve the City's existing housing stock while providing opportunities for new housing for a variety of income groups. The Housing Element is subject to review and certification by the State of California to ensure that proposed goals, policies and actions conform with the California Government Code.
