Document Description
CDFW is intending to execute a Lake and Streambed Alteration Agreement pursuant to Section 1602 of the Fish and Game Code to the project applicant, the Ventura County Watershed Protection District, represented by Glenn Shephard. This project is a continuation of the Giant Reed Removal Project that was conducted under the previous streambed alteration agreement 1600-2007-0116-R5. Activities agreed upon under the previous streambed alteration agreement began in the fall of 2007 and involved the removal of giant reed (Arundo donax), castor bean (Ricinus communis), pepper trees (Schinus sp.), scotch broom (Cytisus scoparius), and other non-native species from a 1,274 acre project area. The continuation of this project will involve retreatment work twice a year (spring and fall) through 2018, and once a year through 2025. Retreatment work will follow three methods: mastication, cut and daub, or foliar application of herbicides. These methods are described in detail in the notification for this project. The project will not involve the grading or excavation of any root masses. No new access roads or staging areas will be needed. Permittee is not proposing to revegetate the treated areas but will rely on natural recruitment.
