The project is to subdivide two parcels, totaling 20.9 acres, into 61 residential lots. This will include 59 new residential lots and two lots with existing residences and structures. Of the 20.9 acres included in the project approximately 12.8 will be developed with streets and lots. The remaining acres are proposed to be dedicated as wetlands and creek protection zone (7.3. acres) and a park (0.8 acres). The project site is in the north central portion of the city of Arcata, is designated for Residential Medium Density Use (with Planned Development overlay), is mostly flat, and includes a portion of Janes Creek and a tributary of Janes Creek. The project purpose is to develop the site for residential use and restore the onsite portion of Janes Creek and the tributary. The project includes relocating a portion of the Janes Creek tributary, filling a portion of the tributary channel and associated wetlands, and creating a stormwater detention basin and replacement wetland within the 7.3 acres to be deeded to the City of Arcata. The project also includes restoration of the portion of the main channel of Janes Creek that lies within the property. Four historic structures located from the City of Arcata and other public agencies. The site is in private ownership and is proposed to be privately developed. The City would potentially receive the proposed creek corridors and a public park.
