Document Description
The Applicant proposes to alter the stream to construct flood control improvements to provide flood protection to areas susceptible to floods ranging from 100 yr to 190 yr frequencies within Orange, Riverside and San Bernardino Counties. The project features include Norco Bluffs toe stabilization, structural improvements within Prado Dam and Basin, and flood control improvements downstream of Prado Dam in Reach 9 of the Santa Ana River. The project site extends from the area upstream of Prado Basin along the Norco Bluffs through Reach 9 of the Santa Ana River, upstream of Weir Canyon Road. The project has been divided into three components that include component Norco Bluffs (Component A), Prado Basin (Component B), and Reach 9 (Component C). The Norco Bluffs component is located along the southern bank of the Santa Ana River downstream of Interstate 15 and extends for ~1.5 miles. Directly downstream of Component A, the Prado Basin Component encompasses ~9,700 acres surrounding the Santa Ana River, directly northeast of the junction of State Route 91 and State Route 71. The Reach 9 component of the Santa Ana River is located immediately downstream of Prado Dam and extends dor ~7.4 miles to Weir Canyon Road in the City of Anaheim.
