Document Description
Pajaro Valley WMA has water right permit 21039 (Application 30522) to divert water from Harkins and Watsonville Sloughs. They have requested a ten-year time extension on the permit to allow for more time to maximize the amount of water diverted and beneficially used. The primary purpose of the project is to balance water demands with water supplies in the Pajaro groundwater basin. The objectives of the project include reducing overdraft problems associated with groundwater withdrawal, improving groundwater quality due to a decrease in seawater intrusion related to overdraft, and improving regional water supply problems by providing additional fresh water.
