Document Description
This project is comprised of two parts. One part of the project is the update of the Humboldt County Housing Element, a required Element of the General Plan. The Element is currently certified as in compliance with State law by the State Housing and Community Development Department. It identifies housing needs in the unincorporated areas of the County, and directs the implementation of programs to address those housing needs. The update is necessary to respond to changes in housing needs over the past five years; new information provided by the 2000 Census; to comply with State law regarding Housing Elements; and to adopt local policy options. The second part of the project is the adoption of numerous zoning ordinance changes and plan changes to implement the policies and programs in the Element.
