Document Description
The proposed project would consist of three alternatives for the San Fernando Valley East-West Transit Corridor: 1) No Build Alternative; 2) Transportation System Management Alternative (TSM); and 3) Bus Rapid Transit (BRT) Alternative. The BRT Alternative has three variations: the Full BRT, Lankershim/Oxnard On-Street Alignment, and Minimum Operable Segment (MOS). The 14-mile-long BRT would operate on an at-grade corridor beginning at the existing Metro Red Line North Hollywood station and extend westward along the former Southern Pacific Burbank Branch Railroad corridor to Warner Center. A total of 13 stations (spaced approximately 1 mile apart) would be provided. On-street bus terminal would be provided at the eastern and western ends of the corridor, with the exclusive busway portion of the corridor running from the vicinity of the North Hollywood terminus of the Metro Red Line at the east end to Variel at the west end. In addition to a Full BRT Alternative, a Lankersim/Oxnard On-street Alignment is being considered as a substitute alignment to the Chandler Boulevard portion of the corridor.
