- Title
- Magalia Paradise Lake Loop Trail Project
- Description
- Paradise Recreation and Parks District (PRPD, District) is proposing an approximate 4-mile loop trail system near the unincorporated community of Magalia. The loop trail would include existing trails and roads, increasing the total distance of the existing system to approximately 15-miles. The proposed Project plans to create a trail system accessible to hikers and bikers, with equestrians allowed on a portion of the trail. The trail would have five trailheads, one existing well with the addition of potable water and a drinking fountain, and various picnic sites at different points in the Little Butte Creek Watershed. Most trails would be Class 2 and Class 3, with some Class 4 development at trailheads and parking areas, all in accordance with the USFS Trail Class Matrix. The proposed loop system would run from the south end of Magalia Reservoir and loop north to the south end of Paradise Lake. Little Butte Creek flows south through the Project area between Paradise Lake and Magalia Reservoir. There is a desire for more access to recreational areas that would accommodate a variety of recreational users in a safe and resource-sensitive manner. These new trails would provide additional opportunities for recreational users to explore Butte County. The purpose of the Project is to provide long-term sustainable trails, with minimal maintenance needs, that expand access to multiple user groups.
