Title: La Cañada Honda Bridge Replacement Project
Description: The Proposed Action would replace UPRR bridge across Honda Creek to ensure compliance with Federal Railroad Administration (FRA) and UPRR safety standards. This bridge is essential to the only railroad route through Ventura, Santa Barbara, and San Luis Obispo Counties. The existing 13-span, 541-foot-long deck plate girder (DPG) and steel towers crossing Honda Creek would be replaced with a 6-span, 541.6-foot-long DPG, supported by five newly cast concrete piers. The Proposed Action would be implemented in 12 stages located in five general areas totaling approximately 17.6 acres for construction and staging. The Proposed Action includes relocation and replacement of a critical fiber optic connection that extends along UPRR property and across the Honda Bridge, post-project restoration, and an area for archaeological staging/processing. After bridge construction is complete, UPRR would remove and replace all temporary fill and cut material and stabilize temporarily disturbed areas with native vegetation or biodegradable erosion control materials.
