Title
Bubbling Springs Natural Channel Vegetation Removal Project EPIMS No. VEN-25977
Description
The California Department of Fish and Wildlife (CDFW) has executed Lake and Streambed Alteration Agreement EPIMS No. VEN-25977, pursuant to section 1602 of the Fish and Game Code to the project Applicant, City of Port Hueneme, as represented by Charles Cable. The whole of the Project involves vegetation removal along Bubbling Springs natural channel, which drains into the Pacific Ocean. The purpose of the Project is to improve the drainage capacity of the Bubbling Springs natural channel and reduce the risk of flooding by removing the vegetation growing within the channel that is preventing flows. Elevated flows have the potential to result in flooding for adjacent riparian habitat, disturbing potential nesting habitat, and water damage to infrastructure. Vegetation to be removed from the channel bed and banks consists of cattails and bulrush- specifically those that have grown to heights of 10 feet and that have densities spanning the full width of the natural channel, impeding natural water flows and wildlife movement.
