Title: 299 Curve Improvement
Description: This safety improvement project is located in Humboldt County on State Route 299 from postmile (PM) 30.70 to PM 33.35. The project proposes to improve curves at three locations, widen shoulders to widths that vary between four and eight feet throughout the project limits, replace or modify culverts, replace existing metal beam guardrail with Midwest Guardrail System guardrail, and apply rumble strips and wet night visibility thermoplastic striping on the edge of the traveled way. The purpose of this project is to improve safety for motorists, pedestrians, and bicyclists, and to reduce the frequency and severity of collisions within the project limits. This project is needed due to a rate of collisions within the project limits are three times higher than the statewide average.
