Project Info
- Title
- Cal Water Well and Water Treatment Plant
- Description
- The project proposes to construct a water well (known as DOM 301) and a water treatment plant on the project site. As part of the project, conveyance pipelines would also be constructed in the Long Beach Boulevard, Victoria Street, and Barclay Street rights-of-way to link two nearby existing water wells, DOM 272 and DOM 297, to the proposed treatment plant. Groundwater produced at the two existing wells and the proposed well would be delivered to the proposed water treatment plant on-site and then to the local distribution system, including Cal Water’s existing Dominguez District system within the City of Long Beach and County of Los Angeles jurisdictions. The proposed treatment plant would enhance the quality of the water delivered to Cal Water customers, while the construction of the new water well and the collection and distribution mains would improve supply reliability and help meet emergency water demands (e.g., fire flows). City discretionary approvals for the proposed project include CEQA Clearance, Conditional Use Permit, Building Permit, Sewer Connection Permit, Encroachment Permit, and Permit for 24-Hour Drilling. Additionally, a Discharge Permit from the Los Angeles County Fire Department Petrochemical Unit, Waste Discharge Permit from the Sanitation Districts of Los Angeles County, Operation Permit from the South Coast Air Quality Management District, and a Drinking Water Permit Amendment from the State Water Resources Control Board Division of Drinking Water would be required.
