- California State Parks is designing a FEMA-funded project to repair the storm-damaged trail. The project will include repairing/replacing damaged culverts, repairing slope failures and erosion features, and possibly installing an arched culvert or conventional culvert at the El Capitan Creek washout location.The purpose of the geotechnical investigation will be to evaluate the subsurface conditions along the trail alignment and provide geotechnical recommendations for the project as presently proposed. Then investigation will include a geologic literature review, field exploration program, geotechnical laboratory testing,engineering analysis and report preparation.
