Title
Pacific Coast Conservation Alliance nesting raptor and bat population surveys, Jawbone-Butterbredt Area of Critical Environmental Concern
Description
The grant will fund Pacific Coast Conservation Alliance surveys of nesting raptors (eagles, hawks, and owls) and of bat populations within the Jawbone-Butterbredt Area of Critical Environmental Concern (Jawbone-Butterbredt) with a goal to evaluate effects of current OHV activity on nest and roost sites. Survey methods will be visual for raptors (along transects) and acoustic for bats (using electronic bat detectors); these methods are non-invasive and will not affect the species being surveyed. The grant will primarily fund researchers carrying out the surveys over a 2.5-year period, as well as equipment (bat detection devices) and will not cause a physical change in the environment.
