Title
La Tour Resource Management Compound Repair and Maintenance
Description
The proposed project includes: repair and maintenance of all existing structures within the compound which includes a lower barracks/office, mess hall, upper barracks, tool shed, generator shed/gas house, garage, compound entrance sign, associated tanks (water, diesel, gasoline and propane) and flag poles. Repair and maintenance will include, replacing roofing, windows, siding, doors, associated appliance roof vents, installing insulation, upgrading wiring as necessary and painting the structures. The project will also include repairing or replacing any existing buried waterlines, powerlines, propane lines, and/or septic fields as necessary. Maintenance may also include replacement of any sidewalks, paving or resurfacing of any roadways internal to the compound and any general landscaping including the installation of irrigation systems. Maintenance will also include updating the sign (including the footings) and replacement of the flag poles. Reinvestment into the compound has been deferred for a significant number of years and age, weather, and rodent damage is currently affecting the utility of the compound's structures. The project location is within the Resource Management compound of the La Tour Demonstration State Forest. The compound was originally a CDF fire station and is surrounded by stands of mid-seral white fir and species commonly associated with sierra mix conifer forests at approximately 5900 feet in elevation.
