Burroughs Middle School Comprehensive Modernization Project

Description

Burroughs Middle School is located on a 10.53 acre site in the community of LA, approx. 5 miles west of downtown LA and approx. 10 miles east of the Pacific Ocean. The proposed project would include renovations, modernizations, and new construction at Burroughs Middle School; including demolition of the Shop Building, Cafeteria-Classroom Building, Flammable Storage Building, Girls' Locker Building, and approx. 18 classrooms located in 12 portable (relocatable) buildings. The project would include construction of a two-story classroom building, a three-story Food Services/Multi-purpose Room (MPR) and Classroom/Lockers building, and a one-story maintenance and operation (M&O) building. The new buildings would house a total of approx. 34 new general and specialty classrooms, and support spaces, anew Food Services Building and Lunch Shelter. The project includes the structural retrofit, and upgrade of 31 Classrooms, the auditorium and administrative spaces. Once modernization is completed, Burroughs MS would have 71 classrooms including 6 existing classrooms, 31 remodeled classrooms, and 34 new classrooms.
