Correctional Facility at California City

Description

The Project involves construction of a one-level, 1,512-bed correctional center on the northern portion of the site and an identical 1,512-bed correctional center on the southern portion. Each facility would contain seven secure housing structures arranged around a central open area with indoor and outdoor recreational facilities. The western section of the Project site would be comprised of facilities shared by both correctional centers including an administration building; 2,105-space surface parking lot; a series of five stormwater retention basins; and a maintenance access road. Vehicle access to the Project site would be via a roadway extending east from Virginia Boulevard parallel to the Gordon Boulevard alignment. Offsite water, wastewater and natural gas utility improvements are required that would also be constructed to serve the Project.
