Title
Live Oak Park Road Bridge
Description
The county DPW, in cooperation with Caltrans, is proposing the replacement of the Live Oak Park Road Bridge over a perennial tributary to the San Luis Rey River, locally known as Live Oak Creek. The project site is located on Live Oak Park Rd, southwest of its intersection with Gum Tree Lane and two miles west of I-15, in the unincorporated community of Fallbrook. The existing 25-ft long triple corrugated steel culvert crossing is not able to convey a 100-year flood event. The objective of the project is to replace the culvert crossing with a new bridge approx 58-ft in length and 200-ft of approach on each end, designed to current federal bridge requirements and capable of conveying the 100-year flood event. The proposed bridge would be approx 35-ft wide to accommodate 12-ft travel lanes, 4-ft shoulders, and 1.5 ft rails on either side. Channel grading is required approx 100-ft upstream and 150 ft downstream of the bridge. Mature oak trees have been identified for removal to accommodate the new bridge and required grading. Replacement of the existing undersized culvert with the proposed bridge would restore the natural hydrology within the project area, and would improve access and safety for roadway users.
