Description
CDFW has executed Lake and Streambed Alteration Agreement No. 1600-2018-0105-R2, pursuant to section 1602 of the Fish and Game Code to the Project Applicant, the CA Dept. of Parks and Recreation. Project is limited to the construction of a new bridge over an unnamed tributary to Hot Springs Creek and the installation of brush boxes along an eroded segment of Hot Springs Creek's bank. The bridge will be approx. 40 feet long and constructed from redwood. The bridge's weight will be supported by three diamond piers, which will secure each end of the bridge to the ground using metal pipes driven into the ground at opposing angles. The decking and handrails will be constructed on top of the diamond piers using hand-held tools. The bottom of the bridge will be approx. ten feet above the surface of the stream. The approaches to the bridges will be lined with rock to ensure soil stabilization and integrity. The brush boxes will be installed along an approx. 150 foot section of eroded bank on Hot Springs Creek. Vegetation such as dead branches, duff, and willow clippings will be harvested from the surrounding area and stacked horizontally along the undercut bank, almost to the top of the bank terrace. Next, workers will install stakes approx. five feet apart along the length of the brush, both at the water level and above on the bank terrace. The brush will be tied down by stringling bailing wire from shake to stake in a crisscross manner.
