Title
Palos Verdes Reef Restoration Project
Description
The project involves the placement of 70,300 tons of quarried rock to create 40 acres of productive rocky-reef habitat within a 69-acre project site. This project would compensate for lost ecosystem benefits associated with the loss of rocky-beef habitat in the area due to contaminated sediments from the Palos Verdes Shelf Superfund Site, as identified by the Montrose Settlements Restoration Program, and reef burial due to sedimentation from nearby landslides, irrigation practices, and sewage effluent. The State Lands Commission action is an approval of a 25-year General Lease - Other through February 26, 2043.
