Americana Park Bypass Channel
Description
The CDFW has executed Lake and Streambed Alteration Agreement number 1600-2017-0544-R3, pursuant to section 1602 of the Fish and Game Code to the project Applicant, City of Pittsburg. The Project is limited to excavating a new flood channel within a utility corridor owned by Pacific Gas and Electric (PG&E), installing reinforced concrete pipe at the existing tributary to Willow Creek channel, placing rock slope protection, construction of an access driveway, and tree removal. The project involves construction of a new bypass channel to direct excess stormwater runoff from the detention basin eastward into the existing intermittent tributary to Willow Creek. The length of the proposed earthen channel is 780 feet from the edge of the existing Americana Park detention basin in the west to the existing tributary to Willow Creek in the east. The bottom of the trapezoidal earthen channel will be 12 feet wide. Side slopes will be maximum of 3:1 and vary in depth from a minimum of four (4) to five (5) feet. The banks will be vegetated with grass species. Soils excavated for the bypass construction will be deposted over an upland area of 4.8 acres to a maximum depth of 7 inches in the utility corridor immediately southeast of the bypass channel. The anticipated total soil excavation is 128, 500 cubic feet.
