Title
Tulare Lake Storage and Floodwater Protection Project
Description
Note: Extended Per Lead The proposed project would manage available waters by developing new surface water storage (Kettleman Reservoir) and conveyance facilities and utilizing existing existing facilities to conserve floodwaters and possibly other surplus surface waters including from the Kings River and possibly other streams in the Tulare Lake region, for beneficial uses. Available waters would be conveyed to and through the Kettleman Reservoir through a combination of new and existing channels and canals, ultimately being transported into the CA Aqueduct. Water diverted from the Aqueduct would be delivered to meet direct irrigation demands or stored underground by use of groundwater storage facilities and, to a lesser extent, surface storage facilities accessible from the Aqueduct, including in-lieu and direct recharge facilities of Semitropic's Groundwater Bank in Kern County.
