Groundwater Land Retirement/Groundwater Conservation Easement Program

Description

The Program includes AWD's imposition of covenants restricting groundwater use on up to about 75 Project Parcels consisting of about 7,181 acres, and possibly other parcels within the Program area, which covenants would prohibit groundwater extractions and use on those lands in the critically over drafted Tule Subbasin. AWD could pump an additional 1.6 acre feet over a 5-year rolling average period from its existing well field lands per acre of land enrolled in the Program, subject to applicable terms and conditions of a Cooperative Agreement for Groundwater Protection between AWD, and Pixley and Lower Tule River Irrigation Districts effective Jan. 1, 2013.
