Description
The California Department of Fish and Wildlife has executed Lake and Streambed Alteration Agreement No. 1600-2018-0086-R3, pursuant to section 1602 of the Fish and Game Code to the project applicant, City of San Jose. The project includes the replacement of an existing railroad trestle bridge with a single-span bridge for bicycle and pedestrian use. The existing railroad bridge will be removed and replaced witha 210 foot-long and 14 foot-wide single span steel truss bridge with concrete decking and abutments. Creosote-coated piles of the existing bridge will be removed using complete removal methods and partial-removed methods. The construction of the new bridge will involve excavation of the banks for the placement of the abutments, possible installation of retaining walls and pile driving, and other components. A walkway and viewing deck of approx. 32 feet in length will be placed near the southern abutment of the new bridge, with footings installed within the lower portion of the creek bank.
