Title: City Ordinance: City-Wide Exclusive Franchise System for Municipal Solid Waste Collection and Handling
Description: Note: Review per lead The City of Los Angeles is proposing to adopt and implement an ordinance for the implementation of a Citywide Exclusive Franchise System for Solid Resources Collection and Handling. The proposed ordinance would replace the current open market system for commercial Solid Resources with a franchised Solid Resources collection system comprised of 11 zones, with one exclusive Franchised Hauler per zone. The proposed ordinance would also increase diversion of materials away from landfill disposal by requiring Franchised Haulers to provide recycling services to Commercial Establishments and by establishing recycling and diversion goals.
