Pine Creek Road & Old Highway 80 Intersection Improvements Project

Description

The Pine Creek Road & Old Highway 80 Intersection Improvements Project proposes to reconstruct approximately 472 feet of Pine Creek Road at the intersection with Old Highway 80 in the unincorporated area of Pine Valley in San Diego County, to improve safety features for motorists, bicyclists, pedestrians, and equestrians. Pine Creek Road would be reconstructed to accommodate a new intersection angle of 70 degrees at Old Highway 80, which will improve the turning movement for vehicles, especially for trucks and school buses making right turns onto Pine Creek Road. The reconstructed road would also minimize potential risks from rock falls through the grading of the existing rock cliff/slope to provide additional roadway surface north of the existing Pine Creek Road alignment. The lanes on Pine Creek Road would be approximately 20 feet wide and the westbound lane would branch into two 10-foot wide turning lanes at the intersection with Old Highway 80. The proposed project would also construct new roadside signs and pavement markings to accommodate the realigned road.
