Canada Channel Sewer Protection Project

Description

The El Toro Water District (ETWD) owns and maintains an existing sewer pipeline that crosses Canada Channel. The existing pipeline is an eight-inch verified clay pipe (VCP) with a three-foot wide concrete encasement. As a result of heavy rain events occurring over the past several years, severe erosion of Canada Channel at the existing sewer pipeline crossing has occurred. This erosion has resulted in the exposure of the sewer pipeline's concrete encasement. Although no immediate hazards to public safety exist, improvements are required to property protect the pipeline and ensure that erosion and exposure do not reoccur over the long-term.
