Title
Draeger
Description
The Project entails replacement of an existing stream crossing with a free span 70-foot steel bridge located at Cojo Creek, tributary to Majors Creek, on Smith Grade Road, Santa Cruz County. The existing crossing is composed of two 48-inch diameter corrugated steel culverts and two 36-inch diameter concrete pipes covered with several feet of fill retained with planks and redwood logs. The culverts and fill will be removed from the stream and channel restored, as close as possible, to its native configuration. The bridge will be supported on both sides by drilled cast-in-place piers situated outside the 100-year flood are of the creek. All fill and other material removed from the project will be disposed of away from the creek, either offsite or place onsite under the supervision of a geotechnical engineer. All demolition and removal of the existing structure will be accomplished by equipment stationed on either bank of the creek. A temporary cofferdam will be installed upstream of the project area and any water flowing through the channel will be diverted through a culvert. The Department of Fish and Game (DFG) is executing a Lake and Streambed Alteration Agreement, Number 1600-2011-0076-R3, pursuant to Section 1602 of the Fish and Game Code to the project Applicant, Pacific Rim Planning Group as represented by Jim Weaver.
