WIRP: Ames/Reche Groundwater Store and Recovery Program and Pipeline Installation/Replacement Project

Description

The Project involves the construction and operation/maintenance of spreading grounds and the interconnecting pipeline. These facilities would allow the Bighorn-Desert View Water Agency to purchase State Water Project water to meet current and project water needs, as currently the only source is local groundwater. The Project will result in temporary impacts to 6.13 acres of desert tortoise (Gopherus agassizii) habitat; the Project will permanently remove 0 acres of desert tortoise habitat. The Project is expected to result in incidental take of desert tortoise, which is designated as a threatened species under the California Endangered Species Act. The ITP referenced above as issued by DFG authorizes incidental take of Covered Species subject to various terms and conditions including the requirement that all authorized impacts are fully mitigated.
