Title
Carbon Canyon Dam Sediment Removal Project
Description
Carbon Canyon Dam, in conjunction with the Brea and Fullerton dams, is considered vital for the flood protection of the coastal plain of Orange County. It is expected that the sediment removal process will take approximately 9 months over a 15 month period with an anticipated start date in January 2010. Work sediment deposition and accumulation, during the period of time from dam construction to the present, has significantly reduced the capacity for this facility's intended flood control function. Action is necessary at this facility in order to ensure continued flood protection for the communities and residents living downstream in the cities of Brea, Fullerton, Placentia and Anaheim.
