Title
Telegraph Road Bridge Reconstruction
Description
The State of California Department of Fish and Game is entering into a Lake and Streambed Alteration Agreement (SAA #1600-2009-0317-R5 revision1) with Ventura County Public Works Agency, pursuant to Section 1602 of the Fish and Game Code. The Ventura County Public Works Agency intends to alter the streambed by reconstructing the Telegraph Road Bridge at Ellsworth Barranca and adding adjacent bank protection above and below the bridge. The existing bridge would be replaced with a pre-cast, single span bridge. The horizontal alignment will be the same but the width will be increased. Channel enlargement will occur from about 400 ft upstream to 200 ft downstream of the proposed bridge. A total of 540 linear-ft of bank protection (including wing-walls) will be constructed using half-ton ungrouted riprap that would extend an estimated 190 ft upstream and 130 ft downstream of the roadway centerline. The new bridge will span the channel and provide capacity for the 100-year storm event. A water diversion may be necessary to deal with natural and/or nuisance flows during construction. Farmers Irrigation uses a pipeline in the excavation area and the pipeline will be removed and replaced with a new pipe in a similar location. Staging areas will likely be in an adjacent agricultural field.
