Title
Williams Grove Water System Repair Project
Description
DPR will repair the water distribution system that serves at Williams Grove Day Use and Group Camp areas in Humboldt Redwoods SP. Following is a breakdown of project elements. Site 1: Area Under and East of Avenue of the Giants -Dismantle two 20,000 gallon redwood water storage tanks on concrete pads, remove existing gravity fed inline filtration system and expand the size of each existing approximately 315ft squared concrete pad by pouring cement around both to make a single concrete pad approximately 1,320 ft squared in size. -Install four high-density polyethylene (HDPE) water storage tanks with a combined capacity of 40,000 gallons on the expanded concrete pad. Anchor tanks to pad with seismic restraint clips embedded in the pad and with wire tension cables to conform to seismic requirements. -Install inline water filtration system and pipe connections between new tanks and water supply pipe. -Abandon the existing 800 ft long steel water supply pipe located on the ground from the tank area to Avenue of the Giants and install approximately 800ft of new HDPE pipe to replace the existing pipe. Site 2: Williams Grove Day Use and Group Camp Areas West of Avenue of the Giants -Abandon existing gate and drain valves and 3,500 ft of subsurface steel water distribution pipe throughout the Day Use and Group Camp areas; install new valves and approximately 3,500ft of new HDPE distribution pipe; and connect the main distribution pipe to the water supply pipe. -Remove and relocate water faucets at select camp sites throughout the Group Camp area.
