Title
Proposed Amended Rule (PAR) 1111 - Reduction of NOx Emissions from Natural Gas-Fired, Fan-Type Central Furnaces
Description
PAR 1111 will reduce NOx emissions from natural gas-fired, fan-type central furnaces. PAR 1111 requires new residential heating furnaces to meet lower NOx emission limits starting in 2012. Starting October 1, 2012, new mobile home furnaces must meet an emission limit of 40 nanograms per Joule (ng/J) heat output. The proposed 40 ng/J NOx limit is phased-in for new furnaces (based on category of furnace). The proposed 14 ng/J emission limit is based on low-NOx burner technology used in other residential applications. All new units must meet the 14 ng/J NOx limit by October 1, 2018. The proposed amended rule is estimated to reduce annual average emissions of NOx by 0.1 ton per day by 2014 and 2.5 tons per day by 2023.
