Renovation and Remodel of the California Shakespeare Theater Facility County File LP08-2050

Description

A. A request for approval to amend Land Use Permit #20440-87 for the renovation and remodel of an existing seasonal outdoor theater facility. The proposed construction includes the demolition of 9 modular buildings, construction of 3 permanent buildings which consist of a ticket booth, restroom and small concession, a multi-purpose building, and expansion of the theater control booth. In addition, the project includes 3,700 cubic yards of grading for road widening, landscape areas between buildings and picnic areas, and new buildings. The improvements also include electricity, new water and waste systems, new signage, and the replacement of site lighting. The theater improvements will also increase the seating capacity from 550 to 564 seats. B. A request to esstablish take-out food uses for the theater concessions located in the upper grove area, and the multi-purpose building. C. A request for a tree permit to remove 14 code-protected trees and work within the dripline of 7 trees within the vicinity of the theater area. The existing use of the theater complex will not change as a result of the proposal, and the increase on the number of persons working at, or coming to the site will not be significant. In addition, the construction of the proposed improvements will be constructed in 3 phases.
