Valhalla High School Modernization Project

Description

The Grossmont Union High School District proposes to construct a new science building and upgrade existing buildings on the Valhalla HS campus. The new science facility will be a 2 story (40ft high), wood-frmaed structure equipped with a complete fire sprinkler system. Additional improvements to existing buildings on the Valhalla HS campus include: 1) replacement of old aging roofs on all existing buildings determined to require new roofing; 2) renovation of 30 yr old restrooms, plumbing anf drinking fountains; 3) correction of a known drainage problem from the restrooms down the main level, and checking of all existing plumbing and replacement of any identified to be as poorly functioning (all new plumbing installations will meet or exceed the current standards of the 2007 CPC, Part 5, Title 24 of the CCR; 4) replacement of existing water distribution system waste and vent system as necessary; 5) modernization of 76 classrooms with typical repairs and/or renovations including repainting, replacing flooring and ceilings, installing energy-efficient lighting and, upgrading marker boards; 6) upgrade electrical capacity and technology infrastructure for safety and better access to technology; 9) installation of new Heating and Ventilation throughout; 10) upgrade exterior safety lighting; 11) removal of asbestos and lead paint from the maing campus building, auto shop, boys locker room, food service area, girls locker room, gym/band room, mini gym (dance/wrestling), Classroom Numbers R1-R4, $-5-R8, R10, R11 and the racquetball courts.
