Silver Creek Restoration Project

Description

The California Department of Fish and Game is executing Lake or Streambed Alteration Agreement number 1600-2008-0047-R2, pursuant to Section 1602 of the Fish and Game Code to the project applicant, Feather River Coordinated Resource Management. Silver Creek Rehabilitation Projector: The proposed treatments would install naturally occurring features and processes to capture and store some of the bedload material from upstream reaches, transport the remainder of material through the project reach, and significantly reduce erosion of stream banks. The project consists of installing one log jam and enhancing another existing log jam (80 cu yds of whole trees), installing 6 boulder vanes (120 cu yds of 3-6' boulders), installing boulder toe rap on one outcurve bank (50 cu yds of 3-6' boulders), raising 4-6 riffles (80 cu yds of 2' minus pit run), laying back 830 feet of bank 12 feet (184 cu yds material), and building floodplain bench using the opposing gravel bar (138 cu yds) and bank lay back material. The channel cross-sectional area will remain the same, but flow vectors will be directed away from banks using these treatments.
