Dry Year Supplemental Supply Project

Description

EBMUD is proposing to use CCWD's Old River intake facilities to divert up to ~2,700 acre-feet of the water available from the Central Valley Project pursuant to EBMUD's CVP contract in Feb. 2008 and, if dry conditions continue, up to 15,000 AF in each of the subsequent CVP water years (2008-2009, 2009-2010, and in Feb. - June of water year 2010-2011). The project objectives are to: 1) obtain EBMUD supplemental CBP water during this dry water year, and potentially in the next 3 water years if they are also determined to be dry-in the interim period while Freeport Regional Water Project facilities are under construction-to alleviate potential EBMUD shortages; 2) supplement San Pablo Reservoir water storage to help maintain its normal range of operations during this dry water year, and potentially in the next 3 water years if they are also determined to be dry; and 3) test the new CCWD-EBMUD intertie facility.
