Construct Left Turn Pocket at West Sherman Island Road on State Route (SR) 160 in Sacramento County

Description

During a 5-year period (from January 1, 1997 to December 31, 2001), there have been 5 accidents within the project limits. The project can improve safety and operations within the project limits by adding a left turn pocket on SR 160 in the eastbound direction at Sherman Island Road. A left turn pocket will provide a refuge for vehicles stopping and waiting for oncoming traffic to clear before turning left onto West Sherman Island Road. All the construction activities will take place within current Caltrans right of way.
