Title
Peninsula Medical Center Replacement Project
Description
On November 15, 2004, the Burlingame City Council certified the Final EIR for a project to replace the existing Peninsula Medical Center hospital building and nearby office buildings with a new hospital, medical office building and parking garage. The existing medical offices will be demolished as a part of the project. After the replacement hospital is completed, the existing hospital will be demolished. The replacement hospital would consist of approximately 440,000 square feet in a six to seven story structure, attached to a five story medical office building of approximately 150,000 square feet. The project also includes relocation of an existing helipad on the site. A parking garage with 809 spaces would be built as part of the project, along with 681 surface parking spaces for a total of 1,490 on-site parking spaces. The main entrance to the hospital would be from Trousdale Drive opposite Magnolia Avenue. There would also be a staff entrance from Marco Polo Way, a combined staff/emergency department entrance from Trousdale Drive near Ogden Drive, and the loading dock entrance from El Camino Real. On September 19, 2005, the Burlingame City Council approved a Vesting Tentative Parcel Map to combine lots in order to implement the project described above and in response to the conditions of approval imposed on the project. The City Council also approved conditional rezoning of three of the four parcels which make up the Peninsula Medical Center site from C-1 and C-3 to Unclassified. The rezoning of the properties was also done to satisfy the conditions of approval imposed on the project.
