Description

San Mateo County proposes to replace the current Hillcrest Juvenile Hall and associated facilities on Tower Road with a new Youth Services Center. The new center will consist of a 240 bed Juvenile Hall, Probation Offices, Health Services, Juvenile Courts Education Center, Girls Camp, Group Receiving Homes, and Dual Diagnosis facility. The new facility is needed because the existing Hall is overcrowded, undersized, and outdated. Because of haphazard expansion and antiquated design, the current facility requires extensive staff effort to maintain a level of security needed for the types of minors housed today.
