Title
Pfeiffer Big Sur State Park Entrance and Day Use Improvements
Description
This project will provide two new permanent crossings of the Big Sur River within Pfeiffer Big Sur State Park: a pedestrian bridge and a vehicle/pedestrian bridge. Both bridges are single span with no piers. The abutment locations are believed to be within the 100-year floodplain, based upon an April 2004 California State Parks hydrologic study. At the North Day Use area, the bridge is an 8' x 150' prefabricated steel pedestrian bridge. At the east end of Main Camp, a 28' x 130' prefabricated steel vehicle bridge will be installed. The concrete abutments are outside the active stream channel. Up to 40 cy of rock slope protection for the south abutment of the pedestrian bridge may be placed below the top of bank, which will probably require reduction of upper bank slope. There will be no grading, cut or fill in the active stream channel. All equipment will stand off from the top of bank and will not enter the channel. The California Department of Fish and Game is executing a Lake and Streambed Alteration Agreement number 1600-2004-0391-3 pursuant to Section 1602 of the Fish and Game Code to the project applicant, Steve Lehman / California Dept. of Parks and Recreation.
