Route 30-Drainage Channel Rehabilitation and Restoration

Description

California Department of Fish and Game is executing a Lake and Streambed Alteration Agreement pursuant to Section 1601 of the Fish and Game Code to the project applicant, California State Department of Transportation. The applicant proposes the construction of a grouted protective rock slope check dam in the channel to reduce flow velocity, reconstructing the failed portions of the slopes with rip rap and fill, and removing debris and vegetation that cause channel blockage. The bottom of the channel will remain unpaved and permeable for groundwater recharge. This project will have temporary impacts to the approximate 3 acres of wetland area while the Arundo and non-native vegetation is being removed, as well as when the embankment slopes are being repaired.
