John West Road - Fire Access Road/Emergency Egress

Description

The California Dpartment of Fish and Game (Department) is executing a 1601 Stream Alteration Agreement with the California Department of Forestry and Fire Protection (CDF) for the CDF's use use of two unnamed tributaries to the Fresno River. The purpose of the Project is to allow the CDF to construct and place two, approximately 40 linear feet of 18-inch diameter steel culverts (CMP) into the streambed of two unnamed tributaries of the Fresno River. The two CMPs will be will be covered with approximately 6 to 8 feet of native fil material. The inlet and outlet sides of the CMPs will be armored. Fill slope stabilization will be the application of weed-free straw mulch or slash to cover exposed soil. The Department entered into a 1601 Stream Alteration Agreement with the with the CDF to ensure that appropriate measures for wildlife monitoring and protection, and vegetation protection and erosion control are implemented throughout the project. The project period is from the execution of the Agreement through one year.
